The Scoop Continued...

The Petty's came to visit on their way home from their vacation to Hawaii. Logan had heard about Grace and was so worried about her he had to come and see her. They had passed the hospital and turned around and came all the way back to see her.



The International Princesses came to the hospital and were visiting all of the little girls. The one closest to Grace is Miss United Nations. She is from Texas and her name is Grace too. Grace thought that was very cool! The other girl is Miss Utah. They were so sweet to her. There were girls there from all over the world. They gave Grace a tiara and stuffed animal and little gift bag. That was definitely the highlight of the day!

This was Grace's favorite meal. It consisted of spaghetti noodles with butter, kiwi, Cheetos, strawberry kiwi Gatorade, a Sprite or rootbeer and Dibs. We got a menu and she could order whatever she wanted. Juli let us in on the secret that you can order whatever was in the cafeteria too.

She got lots of get well calls, cards, balloons, and stuffed animals. She talked to Eric on the phone and they sent her balloons and a stuffed puppy. She missed Eric so much. We had to make lots of phone calls to try to keep everyone updated. When I say we, I mean Tom. He put his foot down when I wanted him to call my work for me though. How rude! Juli told me to put it on my blog and then everyone could just check that. I know, I know. (Juli, you could have just done it for me you know!)

She looked forward to the playroom. She went for music therapy, made mailboxes and painted quite a few pictures. I think we may have a budding artist on our hands. She was so sad the day we left because the pink Power Ranger was coming and she missed it. She was sad to leave anyway, she loved it there. She said the worst thing about the hospital is "they have needles" and the best thing was "the food".

Her blood counts went down so low they had to give her a cancer drug to boost her white count. We know from Eric that when his counts are down that low he can't go anywhere and is homebound or has to wear a mask, but they said we could take her anywhere and didn't need to worry about it. Yeah right! She got a PIC line put in so we could continue her antibiotics at home every 6 hours for 6 weeks. She was excited to compare PIC lines with Eric, but he had just had his taken out. Juli said we were in the hospital over Eric'c anniversary of first going to Primary Children's. We left the hospital on the 22nd, after 6 days in the hospital. The home health nurse met us at the house and showed us how to administer her antibiotic. They come once a week and draw blood and change her dressing. We had a follow up appointment at the local clinic the day after we got home and her counts had tripled so we were relieved. We are so thankful for all of the family and our good neighbor for watching the rest of the kids while we were with Grace. I don't know what we would do without family close by!
